After Spring break things become a bit crazy with scheduling, but we will begin class again the day we return from break.
Fifth Grade Math News: We have finished our Sundial Unit. Students used their knowledge and skill in drawing precise angles to create working sundials. They should be coming home when we get back from break. We are waiting for a warm and sunny day to test them out. Meanwhile we have begun a project on the art of Ellsworth Kelly. We are making pieces of art inspired by his style and will then be using them to work with fractions, decimals, and percents.
5th Grade Reading: OOPS. We didn't make a mistake, however we are researching and creating our own non fiction book on things that have been invented by accident. Students are selecting the items that interest them to research. Then using common non fiction text features, we are creating our own book on the things in our life that we have because someone discovered them accidently.
Fourth Grade Math News: We are in the middle of designing our own dream houses. Students have selected a career and an area of the country they would like to live. They have researched salaries in the various locations as well as costs of homes in those areas. We learned about credit ratings and how they effect interest rates as well as how much you can borrow. Now that they have an idea of how much home they can afford based on their carreer choices and city of residence, they are using area and perimeters to design their dream home within the square footage that they can afford.
Fourth Grade Reading News: We have finished filming our news pieces our various Native American cultures. We will begin editing them using green screen technology to import the imagery needed to complete our broadcasts.
